About Me

Mesa Verde sign

My first camera was a Kodak Pocket Instamatic 10 that my Aunt Ruth gave me for my 14th birthday. When I was 16, I took that camera with me on a two week vacation out west with my grandparents and my younger brother and sister. We visited White Sands, Carlsbad Caverns, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, Mesa Verde and I photographed it all. I was hooked!

Never really having had an interest in art before I wasn't too excited when the 9th grade guidance counselor at my new school recommended I take an art class just because they had a good program. But I followed her advice and Mr. Backston taught me how to draw the human figure. I was hooked!

I went on to study graphic design and then later web design at the University of Akron. I studied illustration with Bruce Armstrong which continued my love for drawing the human figure, but also helped develop my sense of design.

I've always loved flowers and recently found joy in pressing flowers. My latest project combines my love of flowers with my art.
